Being killed by a lion - Who's fault is it?

Currently on the news the family of the man who was mauled by lions at Addo outside Port Elizabeth have reacted with shock and horror to the news of his death.

This news really caught my attention as at the end of the day I have to question myself who's fault is it really?

The lion is a born to kill preditor, a animal of the wild and very territorial. I feel that lions or animals will only act once they feel that they have been threatened or someone has crossed in their territory. They think like animals while humans think differently.

We are trained from small already to know that there are certain things that are dangerious and that we should avoid. Honestly, trained lion or not, it is a lion. Humans are supposed to be intelligent intellectuals and know better, so yes basically I'm not saying that individual had it coming to them, what I'm saying is that we should learn to be more careful, alert.

You never know when things turn out horribly wrong!

Trying to Diet

Trying to diet has to be the hardest mind action that anyone who might be over weight or who had a bit to much of McDonalds.

I believe that it is way more that following a simple diet plan that's printed in the latest "Living and Loving" issue. Eating nothing but museli, yogurt, fruit and vegetables for the entire day is a great way to make you feel weak, undernurrished and dreaming of steak - the big spur steak!

I know that it is not alway the biggest of people who go on diets yet, usually this is the case. How hard must it be to know that your naturally big yet, you keep starving yourself from food.

My advice is to eat normal, rather in smaller portions and make sure it is the healthy choice. Listen to your body, it will tell you what to do, I know I do and I would force 'rabbit food' in my system until there's nothing left.

At the end of the day you will have to be mentally strong and learn to love yourself, as I know I do.

Born to Travel

Traveling is so expensive it actually makes you scared knowing how much deeper you'll have to dig into your pocket. I will have to say at the same time knowing that there is such a vast world out there which I know I'm not even aware about!

Seeing various cultures, the way people interact with one another, findig 'global personalities' are so interesting. There are times I look out of my office window and just think what would It be like in Paris right now, or Rome.

These thoughts bundle up in my head and I'm full of excitement, the world is endless with all their posibilities yet, finance is alway the one putting you at a dead end! How I wish I had won the Lotto 7 times, which I personally think that they could've delegated that each individual can only win once.

Meeting tourists is alway such as pleasure and I cant hold my tongue at asking questions, how is Cape Town compared to where your from? What is your culture like? It must be amazing to travel and I know for sure that before I die I will travel to Rome!

My Client: Moreira Chonguica

Starting at my first PR consultancy Moreira has become to be one great musician and client.

Moreira Chonguica is a celebrated Cape Town based musician, originally from Mozambique. Moreira relocated to Cape Town to further his music studies where he graduated with a degree in in Jazz Performance and an Honours degree in Ethnomusicology at the South African College of Music (University of Cape Town) in 2000. Since his move to Cape Town, Moreira has established an impressive list of credits to his name.

2010 started off on a high note for Moreira, as his latest album ’The Moreira Project Volume 2 - Citizen of the World’, received the An’R (artist, repertoire and international licensing Magazine) Award of Excellence.

Its amazing that such talent is well received in South Africa, if one thinks of how in the past music was very stereotypical, everyone listened to the same music. For some reason, slowly but surely the youth are getting more involved in different type of music like jazz and classical which is great for exposure for Moreira and other artists in this field.

My Last Lecture

Finally the year has arrived at a stand still and no longer do I find myself in a situation where I have to get up early the next morning - lecturers are over!

As happy as I am to know that I will no longer worry about handing in assignments, writing tests, doing oral presentations its real sad to know that it has finally come to an end. I've come across this massive milestone in my life along with wonderful and very challenging classmates. My year has been a real tough ride as this time round I was literally on my own, it was a case of finding my individuality and being able to withstand certain situations on my own.

Management was my last class and how sad it was to see it go, lecturers are passing their blessings onto the future and I just so hope that we all succeed, in PR or wherever our paths take us. Life is full of surprises and I know that an unexpected surprise is waiting, a new challenge begins in the work environment!

I must say that although I have been working for a while, being at tech was casual and relaxing. I will no longer get a day that when its raining outside I can just put off my alarm and tugg further in the blankets, no, work is work and now its time for me to prove myself.

Watch This Space?

If you understand the meaning of personal space well, then give me my personal space yet, you may observe this space from afar. I will be a bombing bombshell of awesomeness, creativity and enthusiasm. My life begins now and I have taken it by the paws and will never look behind me, this is my time and I will shine.

By starting my career as a Public Relations Practitioner already put me in the arms of a well experienced and exposed consultancy where I will grow in the celebrity and hospitality market. Regarding my personal life, this was never an issue to begin with. My friends are always there for me no matter in what situation I'm in I know that I can always count on them to back and push me forward to accomplishing my goals.

My family have always been there yet, will be there even more now that my space is ready for action. I'm bursting with positivity and ready for what ever life will throw my way I just hope that all challenges are not too hectic and that I learn from my mistakes. I'm growing and I'm moving fast and it feels good to know that my life is filled with endless possibilities.

My favourite Cat in the Hat Book is "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr Seuss

The Cat in the Hat Book is all about Literature - childrens literature, which has been going on for years and years now and has event made if from books to TV series and even big screen additions.

This book mainly revolves around mischief and mayhem which basically reminds me of the days when its raining outside and you have absolutely nothing to do. I believe when a child has nothing to do this is exactly what is on their mind. They're bored and while their mother is out - the Cat in the hat basically pulls them out of their boredom and gets ready to play. I cannot understand on the one side why they would want to create mayhem yet, this is the story while bringing thing one and thing two along for the destruction.

Personally i think these two small fuzzy blue imps are extremely weird and really scared me as a child and I would never let my children or myself ever even have an inch of the videos in my home - especially with the wreaking havoc in the home as a main display. At the end of the day the story unfolds as to who is going to clean up the mess, this might be famous beginner books - yet, there are much better out there.

Why I have conversations?

I communicate with someone to get my point across, this is my main aim in conversations other than just pointing out simple comments.

Conversations with a group of people to maybe only one or two can be hard if you don't now what to say or your don't have a point decided in your mind before the conversation has already taken place. Conversations help you to get to know the other person; their character and see what topics they see of interest compared to your own.

Having a conversation with someone can also be a stress reliever, when you have something on your mind that would be easier to communication with someone else and make the load easier for you to handle.

Before you start a conversation always know what your about to say - perhaps discuss or say what you would say in your mind and try to interpret what the other persons reaction would be, this wont make you look stupid at the end of the day or your conversation pointless.

My BIG fat dream

I cant say that I ever really had a big fat dream or even remembered it the next morning. Lately, i seem to dream about violent things, which I think might be due to the high rise of stress in my life with studying and working.

I can honestly say that I can only remember small dream pieces yet, this only lasts about 10 minutes after I wake in the morning. If I'm able to choose what to dream I would dream about my life before this one. A dream so profound that it would really be one to remember although my life and not just 10 minutes in the morning.

I would imagine myself being an Egyptian queen, a slave who knows, to experience someones life where in the end if might have been mine. Now this would be considered as a BIG fat dream.

It is something that i feel cannot be ignored let alone forgotten, something that I can tell my friends and that will give me experiences that I know I cannot experience in reality.

Conventional is a good fallback position isn't it

Well, we all see ourselves as different and it is good to be different yet, what if being different doesn't work out for you at all? What if being alone in your originality can some what be boring - conventional can be a good fallback position.

By following the normal customs and practices one can easily fall in societal backgrounds and follow the mediocre set of society. It is about you conforming to a set of standards which is seen as symbolic to society and will be able to welcome you straight in -with open arms.

By choosing a conventional path your agreeing to a set of standards and yes, it is hard to follow instructions and let alone instructions that are considered norm in society. You have to change your behaviour, your attitude and you actions - what ever you do is determined by what society expects from you.

At the end of the day if being accepted by society is all that you want well, going the conventional route wouldn't be such a bad idea.

You cannot chase two rabbits at the same time

You cannot take on two goals at the same time, its like chasing two rabbits, who might not end up in the same hole at the end of the day.

Chasing two goals at the same time is like a dead end at the end at the end of the road and you can only turn left or right, you can only choose the one or the other and cannot choose both. Once people decide to chase two goals in life, I find the you don't accomplish any other. For example you cant choose to travel and want to build a family at the same time.

Although, these are good goals in life, the one conflicts with the other and will both pull you into different directions, which is like running after two rabbits, they are both extremely fast and will defiantly not follow each other in the same direction.

At the end of the day it is as important as breathing to make the right decision for you.

Nothing is more dangerous than an idea

You know the notion that if plan A doesn't work out you should follow plan B? Yet, what if it happens that you have only thought of plan A as the perfect plan - "Plan A" and it doesn't work out - then what - usually you move onto plan B.

An idea is something powerful, big or small it is powerful on its own. Albert Einstein is widely know for his genius mind and many knowledgeable ideas and discoveries yet, how do we know that those ideas arose from idea A or idea Z.

The fact of the matter is that having alternative plans to back up your idea or ideas is a cleaver thing to do, a clever strategy should always accompany your idea of which to the end you can go so far as to save your integrity.

Have you figured out your second head fake?

My head fake is all about how to lead my life in the right path, ultimately what is the right path? The path of trust, to trust all those around me and being honest in all that I do basically, these are the things that we ought to know within each and every passing day.

I believe that the way you lead your life will eventually determine your outcome - karma will lead towards the finish line therefore it is important to lead a life of integrity. I think that we should all understand the notion that life is not at all times fair and we have to learn to deal with it therefore, it is important to know where you are as an individual and know where your going.

It is important to know that there are no handouts in life and that you have to work for what you want in life. I think that I have understood my second head fake - yet, still have many more things that I need to understand and monitor my actions in line with spiritually and making sure that when I fall that I pick myself up again and again until I succeed.

How hard is it to follow instructions?

Instructions are usually clear and simple yet, no matter how bright you are I'm sure that there will be an instruction that you've either left out or one that you're not sure about.

For example the brightest of kid in class hands in there 50 page essay thinking that the larger the essay the larger the mark. Guess, again buddy, the instructions limit your assignment to 10 pages and now the student will get penalized by probably 15%.

Another example are page numbers and here i can say that I'm in fault. The simplest of instruction, all I have to do is click a button and 'poof' I've got page numbers. I think that when it comes to instructions, those that listen - that actually listen will follow instructions clearly and the outcome of their mark will determine that.

Moving away from educational instructions, you have normal day to day instructions which i believe is the hardest as you don't have someone to explain things to you. You will have to hope and pray that your reading the instructions clearly. Such as, when you need to warm pop - corn in the microwave although I know what to do as I have done this over and over I would read the instructions as I know the consequences.

Our behaviour to follow instructions will bring forth the outcome.

The Plight of Animation

Walt Disney Fantasia caught the world by storm, with mops dancing and wizards casting their spells – it was something that I loved to watch as a child. Today, we have greatly moved from a 2D Micky mouse to a computerized 3D character.

To sit back an actually see how time has evolved animation to such a great extent that the animation as a study choice has become one of great interest although, it is such a pitty that careers in this field aren’t available. In the past Walt Disney has been the top and only animation companies to produces animation of this magnitude yet, through the course of the years Pixar has been created using latest technology to their advantage.

No longer do you have to wait to see your characters in shopping malls – they are consistently on your television, your computer which is highly accessible in this day and age. Although. I believe that old school animation is the greatest animation, with the high technology used I feel that for children Gummy Bears will always beat Dragon Ball Z

What really is a babalas delux?

Have you ever woken up after a long night of parting and was so dehydrated and unbelievably hungry that is wasn’t even funny? This is my story of the best morning after cure to the “Babalas” called the babalas deluxe! Firstly, wake up, dry the sleep from your wery eyes and soon after, feel that unbearable head throbbing sensation, almost as if its creating its own techno party all from over in your head! Then get your ass up and do either one of three things, go straight to the toilet and let out what can’t be kept in any longer and go back to bed and wait the pain out, which is the stupidest one to do. Or go straight to the fridge, get another one of what you were drinking the night before and down it like there's no tomorrow! This one is for the Die Hard Spartans, who can actually gather up the strength to actually take that bottle, pour our self a shot and JUG! Through out my life I have heard countless people tell me, after a night of heavy parting, that they never ever drinking again, so good luck with that choice yawl! Finally heres what I would do, forcefully wake up, endure the unbearable pain of the techno party upstairs and go straight to the kitchen, turn on the stove and wait for the pan to heat up. Next a crack open some eggs and fry them sunny side side up, mmmm nom nom, then throw some red Vienna's in the same pan, maybe spice it up with some smoortjie add all these to a slice of Albany white bread, make sure it’s the puffy type, then add your extras like cheese, let it melt over the fluffy sunny eggs, add your pepper and salt and make you some Nescafe “Gold” for a thirst quencher. You have been served with this highly classified information, do with it as you please… It works for me J

My climb to Goudini Spa

In June this year, it was the first time that I went with my boyfriends family away for a weekend and our destination was Goudini Spa – with their main attraction being the hot springs.
I’ve experienced the hot springs before at Montague Springs with my family and it was totally amazing. Montague springs has hot springs that are smaller and a bit secluded compared to Goudini which is like one large hot pool without the colorful lights or water fall.

Alright, we had our own chalet along with my boyfriend’s cousins, which was great as we had time alone as well. One thing that always caught my eye is the landmark of Goudini Spa on the mountain that you see as you pass by on the N1.

At about 1pm on a Saturday afternoon we all decided to walk to the landmark and see it as some form of personal motivation. The walk was horrendous, the steepest climb that I have ever done, we were five people in the beginning yet, one got lost along the way and headed back to the chalet. Although, the walk was tiring, it lasted about 45min of uphill climbing and eventually we reached the landmark.
Did you know that the landmark is made out of painted white rocks? The view was amazing and luckily the climb down was much faster than up!

Andy Warhol said, "In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes." You can't choose your 15min but why would you be world famous?

This is real tricky, I have never thought of myself ever being world famous. If I think of those who are world famous, such as Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, these a profound human beings who contributed significantly to the world that we live in today, specifically South Africa.

If I had to be world famous I would have to compare myself to these world icons, what have I learned from them? What can I bring that would be of significance as if I am to be world famous it has to be on a knowledgeable level and not on a celebrity level.

My character would be one – fun, loving and always ready for action and encompass this in every aspect of my life. I will be great in what I do , if not I will try and try again until I can no longer move forward.

The company that I keep around me is of major importance – to keep good people always aside by me is a great way to consistently give off good vibes to everyone around me and receive them in return.

Being ‘world famous’ is something that I would never want to be yet, in my own world I would want to be known as the above, one of great character and confidence.

My Viljoensdrift river boat ride

Viljoensdrift is a secluded river resort where your able to come along with your entire family as well as friends and book a picknic basket.

My boat ride began at 12am of which we departed from Viljoensdrift on a 1hour boat ride. There was about 20 passengers on board and I must say that I was pleased to know that there was blankets available as the wind suddenly picked up.

There were mainly tourists on the boat who ordered white wine accompanied with warm ciabita bread. We sailed mainly past weaver birds of which might I add – made 5 nests in my garden at home. Yet, the birds along the river bank were the same kind of bird as the one at my house, their feathers were darker in colour and their nests outnumbered my 5 by 50! Honestly, the ride seemed really short as was a bit disappointing that there wasn’t anything of real interest to see.

A skill called leadership

Firstly there are no rules in leadership yet, there a certain skills that can make you a good leader. Certain skills can make you a good or bad leader.

Leadership is all about responsibility knowing what has to be done and being able to strategically plan ahead. Many people leave out a very important factor that leadership does not have to be boring it is filled with adventure and fun but, never forget the importance of completing the task at hand.

Being a great leader is not determined by your status, you can be a CEO of a large corporation or the leader of a church choir – your role as a leader is to lead those around you to the best of your ability and delegate responsibilities that ultimately leads to you accomplishing your goals.

If you lead correctly, your followers will follow and will do the job correctly. One of the main keys of leadership that stands out for me is that whether your prime minister or president you are an explorer of human mind and it is important that you learn how to get things done through people – this is one of the most important skills of leadership.

My ride to Ravenna Mountain Resort

Firstly this place is very far from Cape Town, more or less 3hrs and 45min on the N1 to R60 of which you need to pack in a multitude of snacks.

Charlton and I decided to have a weekend away at a place that is not close to home – yet, I think that when he made the booking he didn’t realize that it would actually be this far. We planned to take leave the day that we left, which was a Friday yet, I couldn’t leave my job at all early enough therefore we left pretty late. Okay, so were on the N1 at 7pm and making sure that the car was fine added another 15 to 20 min to our time.
To get onto the R60 from the N1 is already over 2hrs, we could totally relate to the movie entitled “Are we there yet” each 10 km ride felt as long as 30 min each – it was completely exhausting and dark, the road was very dark.

We usually hate driving on the long road at night as you have those negligent drivers who drive with their bright lights on and totally messes with our eyes. Although, the drive was really long – at the end of the day it was so worth it, the place is a true mountain resort and fit for any family.

Rock Journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read - Frank Zappa

I feel that Frank Zappa has a point in the matter of rock journalism although, I have to be honest in saying I do not know much in the subject matter only that it is critism and reportage about music. Rock journalism began in the eighteenth century on what is now thought on as classical music.

I feel that with rock people are the hardest to understand or even harder to write upon, with their best loved leather trousers and top hats and glittery T-shirts can leave any one speechless. Yet, rock journalism has some profound news worthy item in all of this uncertainty.

Journalist spending hours trying to make the masses understand the lyrics and understanding of the lyrics seem comparable to us honestly, I feel that a journo write up cannot explain rock better that you actually attending a rock concert. It’s a notion of either you get it or you don’t!

The perfect boyfriend - Charlton

I have been with my boyfriend Charlton Smith for about 6 years now and in the eve of our anniversary I thought I would like to say something nice and wonderful about him.

You know you always get those movies that says “ten things I hate about him” or “John Tucker must die” the guys in these type of movies are the usual – asses that just think of themselves which clearly puts them in a rut at the end of the day. My point is that with such negativity around how men treat women how are you able to find the right guy? Well, I found my Mr Right, he might not be perfect, you might not agree with me – yet, the best thing is ‘I don’t care’. This is someone that makes me feel complete to my very tippy toes.

A guy that occasionally remembers to open the car door for me – which makes it so much more memorable and blows kisses my way in the mornings and evenings. This might sound like a love story and yes, it is, this is my love story. Knowing and growing with someone so wonderful for so long and actually accept them with their faults and all makes me realize that this is my soul mate, my friend and hopefully continue our relationship bliss for many more years to come. Although with the usual and very annoying addiction to play station or guitar hero – I say that if you cant beat them, join them.

How hard is it to follow instructions?

Instructions are usually clear and simple yet, no matter how bright you are I'm sure that there will be an instruction that you have either left out or one that you’re not clear about.
For example the brightest kid in class hands in their 50 page assignment, although the instructions clearly say’s no longer than 10 pages. This kid is thinking that they will score extra marks for the effort yet, they completely ignored the instruction and will be penalized.

Another example is page numbers and here I can say that I'm in fault. The simplest of instructions – all you have to do is use a click of a button and ‘poof’ its there yet, its very easy at times to miss on either one or two instructions. I think that when it comes to instructions, those that listen, that actually follow instructions clearly and those that don’t – their mark will determine the outcome.

Moving away from educational instructions, you have the normal day to day instructions which I believe is the hardest of all. It will be easy to get someone a cup of tea yet – to kill someone is an entirely different ball game. At the end of the day it all depends on morals and values and in what shit you will accept yourself to be involved in.

positivity vs negitiviy

Have you ever realised that when you speak to people about positivity vs negitivity, the universe and happiness. They look at you like you've been hogging that peace pipe a wee bit too long. Is it that far fetched a feeling to be sick and tired of always being the butt end of lifes funny lil jokes!!

I decided to take my own happiness unto myself, realising that if I wait for someone else to make me happy, I'm going to be waiting forever and I clearly wasted enough time on 'doom and gloom' days. It is also sooo unfair to put all that pressure on someone else to make you happy.

I looked at all the reasons of why I was unhappy. Wrote it down on a piece of paper and put it away. For a week, whilst driving to work, I made a lil mantra for myself; "I love myself, I love my job and today I'm going to love being alive cause no matter what, its going to be a good day!". During that week my sister noticed how different I was, she said that I don't look exhausted anymore and I'm becoming a 'glass half-full' person again and that she missed that person! I soon realised that I'm not as tired as I used to be at work anymore, people are telling that I'm beautiful and appreciating me more at work.

I decided to read my unhappy list, it was so childish of me because those things on my list shouldn't deter me from being happy, no! Its my obsticles in my life, its there to make me a stronger woman! I make my own happiness! A man can add to my happiness but I will never expect him to 'make' me happy.

I leave you with two of my favourite quotes from 'the secret'
"Choose your thoughts carefully .. you are a masterpiece of your life!"

"Happy feelings will attract more happy circumstances"

My 2010 experience

My 2010 experience has ended up to be one of the most randomest experiences ever. Through a friend connection I was able to work at the Fifa fan park on the Grand Parade in Cape Town as a bar lady.

I had never ever been a bar lady and for my first time I decided to take a job where I will be serving the world, so much for starting at small up coming bars! At that note I was one of 200 bar ladies and to come in every 2 days to work, where we only served Castle beer in clear cut mugs and your normal soft drinks yet, we had to get rid of the bottle caps. Apparently it was Fifa’s orders as one could do some really dangerous things with a bottle cap - I mean really like someone’s death would be due to the harsh knock on the head with a bottle cap yet, it was the 'bosses' orders.

After working for about 6 days I was called in for an interview at a PR company where I decided to take the opportunity. On the day I rushed to the interview and hoped that it wouldn’t take long as I had to work at the fan fest thereafter. The interview took longer than expected and 15minutes after, I got a call to say I got the job! Great stuff right! Well, the next day many of us were fired from our bar duties which was a real damper on the Fifa spirit.

I met so many awesome people, I asked people from New York how is it compared to Cape Town and they actually said Cape Town is better than New York, I'm still puzzled about that one but, I will find out sooner or later. The Europeans are the craziest bunch of people that I had ever seen, when England lost they bought tons of beer just to throw it over their heads, they even knew how to do the ‘waka’ dance before I did!

My experience was great and a definite first for all South Africans, although I didn’t watch any games at the stadium it didn’t bother me much as I was right in the centre of the hype and met so many foreigners – who could have asked for a better job position at the best time ever!!!!

The 10 most unexpected consequences of being online

1. Be relocated to a different page than the one you clicked on

2. End up deleting something important on your computer while trying to exit a frozen page

3. Different views on each topic – might change your own views and confuse you all together

4. No privacy online which openly makes your personal life a world matter and far from personal

5. The options ‘click here for a free download’ is not really free and takes forever to disappear

6. Subscriptions that email updates on a daily basis and doesn't give you the option to unsubscribe

7. You cannot log into Google as there are to many users - Its a world site, everybody should be able to get on

8. Find images of your wife/girlfriend with someone else who you know

9. You traced your genes all the way to the stone-age and wished you hadn't

10. Once clicking on the annoying pop-up add – it actually directs you into the page and your computer freezes - Welcome virus!!!

The elephant in the room

The elephant in the room is an expression for when a situation is of an obvious topic, which everyone is aware of yet, it isn’t discussed as it is seen as uncomfortable or a taboo topic.

I have been in many situations where the elephant is in the room, which I call a real awkward moment in time. This expression is of US origin where the meaning and exact word dates from the 1950’s where the first reference was seen in the Charleston Gazette in 1952.

An example of an elephant in the room is during class meetings, or group meetings were a decision is made and originally believed to be a great idea turns into a bad one yet, no one is willing to bring up the problem as they are afraid of the consequences. The consequence that someone is to blame and because they are a team, the person responsible would let down the entire team and as we all know no one likes to fail.

The elephant in the room is known as an English idiom for an obvious truth that is impossible to overlook and the people in the room pretends that it is not even there. The children in the group have chosen to concern themselves with tangible issues instead of dealing with the main one; choosing a different angle.

This can be really pointless at time as we all know when something is wrong it just takes a bit of a 'push' in the mature level to get up and speak your mind, i bet everybody is already thinking it.

Every day is a good day

I start my day at 06:00am every day, eyes waving heavy and I can barely step out of my bed in one piece, I decide to press the snooze button and continue my snooze just for the next five minutes, 35 minutes later I realized I overslept and jumped out of bed. (great way to start my day)

My heart out of my chest I keep telling myself I cannot be late for work as this is my first week and I don’t want to make a bad impression. This is the time where I learned that I could actually multi-task (my boyfriend was wrong) I was able to get dressed and eat my porridge in the nick of time. Brushing my teeth I ran out to ask a neighbor if I could get a lift to the station – just making the train I jumped in and kept tight to a stranger’s bag strap, while gasping for air. Moments like these I swear I would start working out so that I don’t break out a sweat by just walking up the stairs, it’s embarrassing.

Alright, I’m on my way to work and just made it on time, its 09:00am on the dot! Warbling into the office after such a run I sat down and took a moments breath, I couldn't’t believe this is basically what work is all about, rushing, getting things done, leaving home before sun – up and returning after sun – down. I couldn't’t believe this is exactly what I got myself into by agreeing to a position. Leaning back I looked at the message on the wall of my office, a weird smiley face that I drew on a piece of paper a day back with a highlighter which reminded me that although all the bad may come, by having a smile on my face it really cant be as bad as i make it out to be and on that note i told myself – today is going to be a good day.

Our greatest strengths are our greatest weaknesses

South Africa is a prosperous country, beautiful, diverse, and defiantly showed to be a spectacular host for the 2010 World Cup. All around the world we have showed continent by continent that South Africa can and has done the unthinkable, we hosted the 2010 World Cup. With all the wonderful highlights and gorgeous landmarks we attract thousands of tourists from across the globe. Yes, this is great for our economy as tourists brings in wealth yet, at the same time we attract the wrong people who do the wrong things, which tarnishes South Africa's image.

Beauty such as South Africa's popular land marks can attract the wrong crowd; a trafficking service where young children or adults are targeted. Our country is filled with beautiful women and attracts wrong men causing a ‘missing child’ line-up on most of the published media. With the influx of tourists, crime rate is high and communities are vulnerable and vulnerability one can see as clear as day light.

Yes, we are a beautiful country with a diverse nation which is our great strength yet, this is also our greatest weakness as we attract wrong crowds each driven with various motives and puts our strength, our beautiful nation to jeopardy.

Try a Cliché

What goes around comes around

Have you ever thought of cheating an examination, speaking bad about somebody or bullying? Yes, I will be honest in saying I have. The cliché of “What goes around comes around’ is taken so far back that even my greatest, great ancestors have used this example yet, although we aware that this cliché in many cases has proven to be more than factual we still do stupid things. I would say that it is similar to Karma yet, Karma is said to alter your next life and the cliché who knows can hit you in the head the next week, day or minutes after the action took place.

A cliché is a true expression, often a figure of speech whose effectiveness has not been worn-out through overuse or excessive familiarity. I would also refer to it as a dead metaphor. Karma is the effect of a persons actions that determines his/her destiny in the next life-time so If im to work hard in this lifetime I will prosper in the next - or so they say.

An example of a true cliché is that when cheating in a test and yes I know many of us have tried this before yet, what confuses me most of all is that one will always sit next to the cleverest or brightest person in class and although your copying word for word (which you eventually learn that you can get easily caught out by doing this) the person that your copying from always gets a higher mark. This is where what goes around comes around fits in and basically if you don’t work honestly – you’re destined for failure.

Focus

In today's age young adults are so easily distracted, its is important to have focus, have focus on your goals through directing your attention and efforts to your desired location; your goal. With the influence of your social life and friends can make it hard at time to focus on your studies or assignment thats due. I would say that it takes a large amount of maturity to focus on the task at hand.

The average person is said to not be able to focus as much and if they are able to, they are unable to maintain it. It usually takes average talent, average time to do extraordinary things, it is what will determine whether you will achieve greatness. I would say that one reason average people dont learn to focus is that they live under false assumption that it requires great amounts of effort and will be a strain on them in some way. It is important that with maturity that wise decisions are made and the first thing to do is to focus on achieving your goals and from there make wise decisions.

This is a valuable life lesson of nature which i myself is still learning.

Feelings follow behaviour

With all the hype of the wonderful township setting of Mzolis i just had the greatest urge or feeling to experience the township vibe once again. My first experience was great, so many friends, so many people with different backgrounds, personalities and in a 'normal setting' you wouldn't find people engaging with one another like they do at Mzoli's. Immediately i experienced a feeling of acceptance, of excitement, something different which i loved and couldn't get enough of. This feeling which was instilled in me basically created my personal experience and when someone speaks to me about Mzlolis i immediately related these feelings with it.

Coming towards the end of a hectic week, this was all that i was thinking about. After a hectic week of handing in assignments the experience of Mzolis never left my thoughts. I had somehow created a feeling of excitement and hype linked to the township experience. Friday and Saturday had come and yet, no matter what i had done i still had Mzolis on my mind; my feelings basically determined and directed my behaviour that i headed for Mzolis Sunday afternoon and to my pleasure it was exactly how i imagined it. My feeling about the place was exactly how i experienced it and because of my feeling towards the township hype it had led my behaviour to visit and enjoy my Sunday :-)

What qualities are going to make me successful in the future?

To be successful in life, or reach the path towards success requires physical and emotional development. Physical development such as one’s cognitive abilities, the power of knowledge together with the emotional aspect. The emotional aspect requires the development of the individual; of me and how I can develop as an individual to further my path to success.

To develop maturely and be successful I need to be ambitious; one needs to determine a goal that you want to reach and be ambitious enough to go through all the odds to reach the goal. You have to have ambition is also to have drive; the ability to not give up while facing obstacles.

On my path of success I will need to be empathetic, to have empathy towards others. To reach for success one has to be a leader and a good leader has empathy; you are aware of individuals feelings and therefore you feel with them. Empathy is as profound as it creates relationships through the understanding of feelings. To become more aware of intuition will lead one to great success as it allows one to not make decisions based on ‘hunches’ yet, much more as it is a system that allows you to see within, much more than just our five senses. Some people get ideas, others hear music, see pictures some get sensations, others hear words and some have conversations. None of these are correct in creating success yet by paying attention to what is outside and inside of you will.

It is better to practice a little than talk a lot

We all have to agree that many of us are full of talk but, what make us different are the ones that talk and actually do. To put it into simpler terms; I know many who consistently talk about their dreams for the future and how successful they are going to be but, they seem to be dragging themselves along.

There are those who have ambition and drive and when in your company they seem to be on the ‘right path’ to creating their own success yet, the next minute I look they are still stuck at square one. I’m not sure what the excuse is for one who has such passion and drive to stand still on one place and still continue to talk a lot without moving.

My advice to those individuals would be to draw up a vision board and instead of talking about those goals, envision them becoming a reality like they all say ‘walk the talk’. You will find that you will end up where you’re supposed to be if you just put in extra effort in practice and less in talking.

Tie your camel to the post

“See that you are fully secure while your looking for something else”
Nadia :-)

Imagine having everything you’ve always wanted then leaving it for something else which is not promising and leaves you at the end of the day with nothing. This is exactly what happened to a family friend of mine. An excellent business entrepreneur whose company flourished bringing in revenue that he never knew he would achieve so soon.

He bought a small farm along the West Coast and built a large home for his family. Everything was going great until he found ‘what he thought to be a great opportunity’ working in Dubai. I guess I would to considering that I would move to something better and with more opportunities than what South Africa has to offer. With no hesitation he sold his company, property and his highly adored expensive line of cars.

Having sold everything, the family moved to Dubai where he was offered a managerial position of a large firm. After a couple of days he wasn’t happy as the language barriers posed great concern in managing people he couldn’t fully understand. Not long after he took his family and moved back to Cape Town only to find that they no longer have a home of their own and found himself in a position of having everything to nothing at all. He had to start from scratch all over again.

The reason for this story is to make you aware that yes in your life there are going to be opportunities but, you never know how they will turn out so always have a plan B, that’s what I say. If you’re in a job you completely hate don’t just leave, you should be fully aware of the job shortage in South Africa. Therefore, suck it up and take the time to find another job first before leaving the one you have, you will only benefit yourself at the end of the day.

Wedding Cake in the middle of the road!

I must say when I first saw this heading it brings me back to the ideas I had of organising my wedding as a child and the wedding cake was one of the most important items where the dress was first, of course! Well, that thought has been pushed another couple of years into the future but, to focus on the effort that gets put into making and decorating a cake is unbelievable. Having a wedding cake in the middle of the road can only mean disaster and a huge disappointment for the designer/creator.

I don’t bake really but, my best friends’ mother loves to bake and enjoys making conversations on topping techniques or any creative ideas to make the product look more attractive. Hearing from her stories, it takes ample time to craft a beautiful cake with two hands which brings me to realize that a lot of passion and soul gets put into creating the ‘perfect’ wedding cake.

We all know that it is important to decide on the actual cake first whether, fruit, sponge, vanilla or my favorite chocolate; mousse to be exact. Well, the type of cake you decide on will determine the type of designs used on the foundation as it has to be delectable, moist and perfect. Next comes the best part; the plastic icing which is really tricky and not as easy as it looks as a great deal of time and effort are put into creating hand work of and decorations of; flowers, circles, hearts, twirls, dots etc.

It is an amazing way to let your creative juices flow therefore; I would be really pissed if ‘My’ wedding cake happened to land in the middle of the road.

The Responsible Choice

Making choices is the most powerful thing that you do in your life because it shapes the way you live life. Choice comes with free will and leads to the question; do I have free will? Looking at this closer, free will means, your ability to make choices but, can we really choose what we will do next or is your choice always made for you. There is free will and my first free will is to believe in free will. Each choice creates a future, one choice leads into many possible futures and the future that you create is dependable on the choice you make. If you want a comfortable life i.e. car, house and a good job, your first choice would be to make the right one which is to further your education. Going to school to further one’s education opens many choices to be made thereafter to achieve the above mentioned goal, in making the right choice.

It is a poor idea to lie to yourself

A lie is one thing yet when, you lie to yourself which is to repeat this lie constantly, you are allowing yourself to believe the lie. When you lie to someone or lie in general is, a poor thing to do no matter the reason you might feel was worth the lie in the first place.

There are people who lie uncontrollably and sadly they become the lie as no longer is it a lie to them but, it becomes ‘their truth’. It is poor judgment of character for someone to lie to themselves and some may think that it is a way of forgetting something bad which they have done and therefore see the option to lie to themselves to make it easier to forget and move on.

Having to lie leads to a bad conscience and I do not see how one chooses to lie to themselves because, it only worsens the situation and at the end of the day the ‘liar’ will suffer emotionally and physically.

Why attending class is important

While you are a student it is important to know that it is your obligation and considering how young you are, your parents obligation to send you to school and make sure that you stay there. I feel that many parents today don't really know whats happening at school these days especially with the enormous amounts of violence reaching the yards. Going to class shows your commitment and dedication to better yourself and more importantly gain the key to unlock your own future because, knowledge is power.

Yes, there are times when we all dont attend class one time or the other and i don't think that this is bad considering those that never end up in class. This is not only annoying for the other students but also the lecturers because, now we have to all hunt the culprit down. I would think being in B-Tech, students would take more responsibility to attend classes and not harass us when assignments needs to be handed in. Personally i feel if you do not have the balls to attend class then why bother doing the assignment. Your not showing commitment and basically putting forward a low standard of how you do things. In class we learn many things especially when the notes are linked to the assignments so, it is important to be punctual and disciplined.

There are students out there that just don't care about creating a better future for themselves and how does one stress the importance of attending classes and more importantly being involved.

The sound of one hand clapping

Looking from a mystical perspective deriving from the 'Zen Buddhism' states that the sound of one hand clapping puts forward the interpretation to allow one not to think to much and allow our intuition to govern our actions. This allows us to stop the constant puzzles of thought of rational and intellectual thinking and allow us to explore our intuitive feeling rather that thinking rationally. I would say that it is a world that we all need to look through in a different lens. The sound of one hand clapping is exactly that; Its created by two hands clapping together.

According to Zen masters, in the early centuries their students would meditate on the 'sound of one hand clapping' which simply implies to listen not for the sound of one hand clapping yet, the sound that is already there something which is not created.

We all go through live seeking guidance; techniques, help, advice and yes life does through us curve balls yet, we are easily to ask others for help or their opinion or we make a decision which is not entirely decided on our own. Many of us are to afraid to sit back and listen to something deeper that ourselves and find the answer within us. Our intuition is our greatest guide to making decisions. To finally stop putting 'two and two' together and look beyond what we are physically seeing.

My Birthday, my opinion!

Its amazingly wonderful to realise each year on my birthday, what a gift it is to actually look back and say "Wow" another year "I'm getting older and hopefully wiser"

My day was a real good one ;-)

It started waking up in the morning to stormy weather but, that didn't phase me one bit because i enjoy cold weather opposed to warm weather. I believe that on those unbearable Cape Town, 38degree days ,there is absolutely no way to cool down but, in winter there are many ways to stay warm. Anyway getting back to the topic; i headed to class to attend a 'complaints session' which was more than interesting to say the least. I knew basically everybody wanted to target our Research lecturer because of the lack of structure especially when assignments are concerned. I honestly think that when he puts those slides up, it's not just our first time reading it as well.
The meeting turned out informative and was a good way to hear the lecturers side of things. Shortly after we had Communication Science where I was so grateful that we finally finished the long awaited "Development Communication" notes. It felt like my brain just couldn't handle more information at that point let alone the Research test which was to come.

The test went considerably well, I initially thought that it would be really hard considering how he stormed out the 'meeting' earlier the morning but, to my surprise it was good then finally, it was home time. The evening came real quick where my friends and I headed for Starlight Dinner to have some drinks and dinner, this was delayed as the car broke down on our way there. I was kind of irritated because, I'm always late for everything, if I'm early (which in this case I would've been) something would happen to make me late!

Eventually we were saved by the 'Knight in Shining Armour' and headed for Starlight, aware that we had major catching up to do. When we got there i put my crown on, and stomped my heels up the stairs which turned out to be another adventure on its own.

To be continued!

No, all who wander are lost

I was taught from young already ‘you can be anything you want’ my mom said, when I started school I looked up to the older kids, the seniors of the school. I always thought one day will be my day, my mom’s words didn’t just go in the one ear and out the other, it had a profound effect on me from as young as I was. Somehow I understood this; that the possibilities are endless and I hold my key.

I had a vision of what I wanted to be; in Grade one, I wanted to be a hairdresser, in Grade 7 I wanted to be an actress and in Grade 10 I so badly wanted to be a TV presenter. Basically, I had dreams, I had visions, I didn’t know where I was going, but I knew that it was important that I was going somewhere. It was ok at that age to not fully understand and formulate my goals because; I was just beginning to discover myself. Over the past 22 years I found that by having positive self-worth, it helped me understand where I was going, it helped me to determine my goals, I developed ambition and drive to get where I am today. I did it!

It’s easy for any ‘Tom and Harry’ to set goals for themselves but, it takes true determination and perseverance to put those goals into action. Before you can know where you’re going you need to know exactly where you are and from there derive your direction. This doesn’t come over night and therefore it is important to know your self-worth otherwise you will be lost.

How do you step from the top of a 100 foot pole?

At the start of our lives we are all given a choice, Tessa, made the wrong one! She grew up in the Cape Flats; it was hard growing up in a community filled with drugs, sex, abuse and alcohol especially when you have no parents for guidence. Being a teenager we are influenced easily in making the wrong choices, still in school, living with her grandparents Tessa became pregnant at the age of sixteen and had to make it on her own with no support.

Tessa had dreams like we all do; to get married, have a family she never had and experience love, unconditional love. All she had known was the abuse that she had seen throughout her life in her grandparent’s home. Five years gone by and Tessa is now 21 years old with no education and pregnant with her third child of which all were from different men.
Tessa was a victim, with no guidance, she ran from one place to another trying to feel accepted, loved and appreciated by running into the arms of men before her time. She thought she was ugly, unlovable and destined to hurt and be hurt forever. These happen to so many young women today and it is sad not for what had happened but, that they couldn’t see what was happening . Tessa could not see this pattern of destructive behavior nor had anyone to point it out to her.

You are living your own interpretation of what you are taught; it is a pattern that had emerged from childhood. Tessa was young, wounded and confused, she was attracting what she was because she never knew anything else existed, and all she knew was abuse and betrayal. After the birth of her third child, came the realization that she couldn’t go on with this pattern anymore; her realization became her first step.

Forgiveness can restore moral and social order in SA

South Africa is a country with great diversity; we have every religion, every political view, every racial colour and one would ask how does a place so diverse work together, yet, in many ways it does. From my experience since our democracy in 1994, we observe each other and accept the decision made yet we still do not accept each other. Forgiveness is the key to live a long, happy life in a happy environment where people honor each other and their differences. True peace is the work of justice.

There are about 6 billion different nationalities, customs and different ways of living but, when you get straight down to the core you would realize that we all have the exact basic needs and wants. Everyone is South Africa wants to live a safe life, to feel secure with a roof over our heads and food on the tables. Many or all of us want to feel loved, be part of a family and be accepted in our social communities. Parents want to give their children a better life, to give the youth the best opportunities provided.

My daddy had taught me the term “Namaste” which originates from the Hindu religion. I’ve read that Albert Einstein was fascinated by this and wrote a letter to Gandhi asking what it meant. Gandhi answered and said that Namaste means ‘the God in me sees and honors the God in you, and when we are both in that place, we are one’. It’s amazing how one man can make such a profound statement that means so much. Finally, there is somebody that feels the same way I do, that life should not be left fighting on things that do not matter and instead incorporate harmony and peace in all spheres of life and start living.

With South Africa’s high crime rate and corruption one has to wonder how would it be different if all those in lead positions actually forgave one another. What if a man was out for revenge and just about to stab someone out of anger and for one moment he thought; what would this do to my family? Would it bring back the thing or person I lost? If I am to kill him will it put food on my table or a roof over my head? I feel that if everybody thought this way then Polsmoor Prison wouldn't be that full or any prison of that matter. By not forgiving who knows what would happen, you would commit a crime, kill, steal, and the consequences wouldn't be pleasant. By choosing not to forgive, would feel like walking around with a heavy suitcase through a crowded airport. Forgiveness and harmony go together. When you forgive someone, nothing stands between you and that person. Even if the person you forgive does not like you, you have laid your suitcase down and now you can travel lightly.

My Authentic Power

Studying Public Relations Management was pretty inspirational with regards to the opportunities it has to offer in the future yet, as everything else; there are good and bad. During my 3rd year I’ve learned how hard it is to actually find a job within this field and I must admit that this scared me through and through. I’m doing my B-Tech this year and I feel so inspired to do all that I could do to succeed whether it means struggling to find a job after I graduate or not. Its the journey thats all worth while.

I’m not much of a reader but with the start of this year I found my curiosity growing with various knowledgeable books that could benefit my education. I suddenly grabbed all the books that I could find; Marketing, Strategic Management, Research, everything that could increase my knowledge with my current course! For that moment it was amazing, I never knew that I would ever get that much excited over reading educational books that wasn't prescribed but, yet I experienced this enormous craving for so much more.

That moment felt like; I was heading to the most beautiful island in the world and with every opportunity, you row closer to the island. Friends have told me; don’t work so hard – I don’t need to row everyday as the island will still be there tomorrow. This island was my education and my determination to mold and shape my future to the way I want it to be.

This was my first experience with authentic power; it feels good in doing what you’re supposed to be doing, its fulfilling. My life is filled with meaning and purpose with no doubts for fears at that moment I was happy to be alive. It’s like I answered the unanswered question as to why we are here on earth? what is our purpose? I think it is to embrace every moment as your authentic self, to be joyful and make everything exciting and look forward to each day and night.
You can experience authentic power through caring for a child, building a house. It doesn't come from what you are doing but it comes from how you are doing it!

3 Pictures that describe me best!

Ambitious

Determined to achieve what I want

Empathetic

Sensitive to others

Intuitive

A sense of knowing

We are what we do.

In our lives from childhood to adulthood our actions determine our level of understanding our character and how we react to various situations. By turning off the tap while brushing your teeth, shows that you are being considerate to the environment, it shows that you care or by declining plastic bags whenever you are at a supermarket. Many of our parents taught us values and respect and when to have manners. Using the very important ‘thank you’ which many so easily forget yet, it plays great emphasis as to what type of person you are. Saying thank you is to recognize the kindness given to you and you returning this kindness.

It is our simple actions that define who we are and what we do, if you are a good person you would do good things yet, if you are bad you will do bad things. It is as simple as that. We are driven by things that make us beautiful, to have social acceptance, injustice or justice actions to learn. Human actions are driven by societies reaction; what would be the reaction of my friends if I change my hair colour or make myself look pretty today. One can say that it is a way for us to be accepted in our social circles, family or friends and not seem different as we are all mindwashed to think differently. Therefore it is important to think before we act as what we decide to do will impact our actions and we would have to live with the consequences forever. A person who steals, is considered a thief even though they have never stolen before yet, that one moment, that one action determined a new course of his/her life.

How to mend a broken heart.

In our lives we go through good and bad times; falling in love for example has the most beautiful experience yet, many say do not be blinded by love meaning that love may distract you from reality. Yet, at this amazing point in time, where love is so strong it takes just one moment or one action to make it all disappear and being emotional beings we experience hurt. Many people say no one ever died of a broken heart, but when your suffering from one it sure doesn’t feel that way. Experiencing hurt, especially having a having a broken heart can tear anyone from being the social butterfly to not speaking to anyone. In the beginning we are learned to handle our problems as best we can, to be responsible, know the consequences and frankly I believe that once you allow yourself to fall in love, your taking a risk of possibly getting hurt. I guess this is the beauty of giving yourself to another and allowing you to be vulnerable to that person.

Here are suggestions that may help navigate your troubled waters of relationships that have ended and help you heal a broken heart….

Step.1.

Remember to breath, you need to survive the first day which is the most difficult and remember to take each day one day at a time – your not superwomen , so give yourself the space to mourn, sleep, eat ice cream :-)

Step.2.

Always tell yourself that it is OK for you to be feeling down but, don’t let this overtake your emotions. Your are human so congratulate yourself for opening your heart to love. What always works is to consistently fill your head will positive thoughts – “this will pass”

Step.3.

Friends are so important and reach out to those closest to you, it helps you to share your thoughts and make you feel a bit bitter. Hang out together and watch movies, take a night out into town although you don’t feel like it.

Step.4.

Exercise, go out for a walk, clear your head. Keep a diary near by and write your feelings down on paper, play music to make you feel good as this usually works best.

Step.5.

Do not call your ex! Resist the urge to contact him at all costs. Write a letter to him but do not mail it, or go out of town to resist the temptation to call, a changed environment usually works well.

These are probably the 5 simplest yet, hardest steps to ever get through as everything in life; ‘it is easier said than done’. Think of your experience as a learning curve, as an opportunity to determine new goals to spend some time with yourself and build confidence. Which you hardly did because, you were always thinking of two individuals but, now it’s all about you!

We are afraid of the wrong things

We are human and being afraid is one of the emotions that we have; fear has a lot of benefits but, at the same time it has a negative side too ,if we had no fear we would put our hand in a burning fire yet, we are afraid of getting burnt. Fear of not succeeding can make us succeed. Through our lives we also notice that through being afraid we do not do the right things. We are afraid of criticism as there will always be two opinions for all our actions. The act will be seeing wrong by the one and acceptable by the other therefore, how are we to decide what is write or wrong. At that moment you have to ask yourself whether your mind is clear or not, what is your conscience telling you and do whatever you have to do happily and courageously.

Many of us are afraid of being blamed for something or the other, by society, family, friends and many are afraid of disease or death as we might suffer a similar fate. We are afraid of being judged by our actions whether we were thinking at that moment or not. We are afraid of repetitive events that make our hearts ache, the sorrow that our mistakes might cause. Fear can be driven through kindness, love, regret, anger, all these emotions can be displayed through fear from what has been done or what might happen.
Fear is generated in our minds and what can be done to get rid of it. Some believe that fears are carried over from earlier reincarnations which are carried out from the very beginning of life, in the womb of our mothers. I feel fear is a consequence from the leassons we learn in life, we can choose to make the right or wrong choice because, as we grow we learn valuable lessons in life as well as the consequences and when we wrong these we fear those consequences.

Drifting icebergs and global warming

Icebergs are huge masses of ice which have broken away from glaciers in the Artic and Antarctic regions. With the iceberg recently heading towards Australia many people were thinking whether it go into Australia’s land mass and the concern for fishing swept the nation yet, these huge masses of ice gradually melt away as the upper part is warmed by the sun and the lower part by the warmer waters into which they drift.

The iceberg may be as much as 250 feet high, although only one-ninth is above the surface of the sea it can really be a hazard to shipping. The worst disaster that we all know well enough was the British passenger liner, the Titanic. This fine ship was thought to be unsinkable because, she had double skin and 15 watertight compartments. In April, 1912, the liner struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and despite her double skin and watertight compartments she had knocked into the iceberg and quickly sank. From the 2,207 people on board, more than 1,500 drowned.

These remains of massive ice floe which splits from the Antarctic as air temperatures rise due to global warming. We have all experienced the drastic effect that global warming has on our land mass with the increase of temperature and now bigger parts of the Antarctic are breaking up and producing smaller ones which will continue to float along the currents. Many are anticipating more icebergs as the Earth’s temperature rises and larger ice break up.

Fish falling from the sky

Fish falling from the sky is something we would and would not really like to see, the actual fact that fish are falling from the sky or the feeling of fish falling all over your body is not something really pleasing. A summer’s day in the year 2000, local newspapers from Ethiopia reported fish falling from the sky. This unusual and very paranormal image dropped from the sky where millions of them were either dead or others struggling for survival. The local farmers from the area recalled the incident and panic swept through these religious farmers, some of whom thought this was a sign that the world is going to end. I wouldn’t see fish falling from the sky as a ‘sign’ that the world is going to end, seeing balls of fire hitting earth has more promise in its destruction than fish.

In fact, this is just one of countless cases and studies of rains of fish, frogs and periwinkles and even alligators that have been catapulted from the sky. According to paranormal researcher Charles Fort these creatures have been in fact come to be known as ‘Fortean’ activity. These paranormal activities have been said to be the result of severe storms, tornadoes and water spouts. Being as crazy as all this sounds, the theory has not been proven yet, the strong winds from these environmental disasters holds strong winds which pick up the fish from areas around ponds, rocks, streams or lakes which carry them from miles and miles and eventually drop them over land.
The tricky part is that, it only rains one kind of species of fish but, this cannot be explained as to how can wind be discriminating, as the storm scoops up water from a pond why are there not all kinds of things falling down from the sky like, frogs, weeds, sticks etc.

What colour is the wind?

The wind is blue and yellow; blue is the colour of the wind when people are sad or depressed. For example; it's a rainy day and the wind is blowing profusely, it is blue because, at that time people are unhappy about the weather. Many relate to blue days such as the 'blue Mondays' its the colour of feeling down, unhappy or gives your a feeling in the morning to stay under the covers because, if you go out for the day it cannot turn out for the best.

The wind is yellow on the days especially with that cool breeze on a very hot sunny day where, we all welcome that long awaited breeze on a 35 degree day. Yellow is the colour of happiness, it is the colour of the sun, it lightens our day and is seen on Sunflowers when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky.

To conclude if one has to classify wind as one colour, it would be green, as blue and yellow mixed together makes green. Green is a symbol of life, growth and nature where we all need one another to live. We plant the trees and the wind refreshes us on a very hot day and helps with the pollination of flowers.

Is honesty the best policy

Honesty is the best policy as it is a sign of human integrity and being a good person.

Honesty is the strength binding all relationships; friends, family or partner. By being honest you have a clear conscience and you are respecting the person closest to you. Honesty is a step to free yourself from any fraud, deception or the smallest of things, like taking something that you shouldn't have and owning up to it.

No matter the severity of whats being said, by being honest it might worsen the situation or make you feel vulnerable yet, it's important that you are being true to yourself. As a result you've lifted a burden off your shoulders and now the ealing process can begin.

Yes, there comes a time in our relationships where you might feel that by keeping something away, your protecting the one you care for. In all fairness, you don't want to hurt the one you care about therefore, you keep it to yourself but reality is, that your only making the situation worse.

It's important to be sincere and truthful in all relationships because, that's what makes a strong and ever-lasting bond and builds good character.

If i were the boss...

I'm standing in front of Nadia Creations, a PR company and the largest skyscraper in Dubai.

My 1200 members of staff are of all ages, from which some are old friends of mine. Their are open plan offices for lower management and individual offices for top where, each one has their own space to do their part. The interior of the building will have bright colours of pink and green with contrasted pastel shades of white and peach. This will create an adventurous and creative atmosphere, which is important to produce good work and create positive staff moral. Paintings will line the corridors, which will showcase local artists as well as some of my own work, to give it that 'home' touch.

There would be free gumball machines as well as two vending machines on every floor. The cafeteria would be an outdoor setting, shaded by white marquee tents along shaded oak trees. Lunch time would be an hour and 15minutes which you can take at any time of the day provided, that you schedule your day commitments accordingly.

There would be a nursery facility right on the premises where staff are able to check on their children and spend extra time with them. The company will offer various workshops; skills training, leadership training and strategic thinking sessions where staff have the opportunity to build their knowledge and climb up the corporate ladder.

Within Nadia Creations, communication will be the key focus point along all decision making, where staff will be well informed and involved through good times and bad. Communications such as plans for the future, policies, procedures and very important to communicate to staff what is their role in leading the company to success.

Two people came out of a building into a story

After a heavy night of drinking Mike and Allen finally decided to leave the pub yet, they hadn't left the building the same way they entered. Mike, falling after Allen, who suddenly stoped, "why you stop?" asked Mike, "keep quiet! these doors are different" Allen said while trying to keep a straight face. Mike slowly getting impatient and irritated pushed Allen aside and hurried towards the door.

Allen drew irresistibly near to the door as well, like a magician craving a new magic trick. As the door swung open, their guts tightened as they looked into the nothingness. Mike being more inquisitive and terribly impatient took a step forward with Allen gripping him from behind. Suddenly they both fell into the nothingness, weightless, spinning out of control which felt even worse from all the booze drinking moments earlier.

While spinning out of control, Mike shouted "Are we going to die?" "No, just hold onto my hand, hopefully were just having a bad dream" said Allen. Mike threw his arms wide towards Allen, while struggling through the feeling of rushed air. Moments later they plunged downward into Rosemary bushes down below. After they finally regained consciousness they looked up at a sign that said "You have crossed from the world of living, brought here by power' frightened they looked at each other wondering exactly where they were.

Why do we have shades of colour?

Imagine a world where everything and anything is black and white. I find that really hard to do because, my life is a sunshine of colour. From the moment of birth, the first time i opened my eyes colours amazed me; blues, pinks, yellows, greens although i wasn't able to recognise which colour is which at such a young age, it helped me remember things better with relation to it's colour.

Today colours are everywhere, some we have the option to choose which colour to use such as what colours to wear in the morning or which colour to use to paint the walls of the house. There are vast amounts of living or non-living things that we cannot control which colour it should be such as trees, soil, the sky yet, we relate these things according to the colour that they have.

Each colour has a representation to it; with Valentine's Day the colour's red and white are associated with love and romance.

Shades of colour are expressions of our lives through the actions we take or decide.

Pathetic gifts for Valentine's Day

Being in a relationship has it's pro's and con's. On Valetines Day, a day which society sociates it with love, romance and then a chance to buy annoying gifts.

As a female, your always wanting the sweetest or cutest of gifts. The typical mug and false rose or small teddy bear, wrapped in silicone paper is not considered sweet the second time around.

The non - appetising heart shaped box of chocolates, along with the popular heart balloon on a stick would only be appealing for a child to play with.

The flowers you so eagerly waited for finally arrives to your door-step, only to last a minimum of two days.

The eager awaited romantic poem ends up being the tune to one of Celine Dion's lyrics, which you only end up reading once.

Perfume bought from public sales men sitting on the corner shop insisting that its the origional Paris Hilton or Britney Spears scent, only ends up being that the bottle was the only benefit of the deal.

Finally, the popular 'Happy Valentines Day' singing card filled with romantic red and white colour combination, real appealing to the eye yet, when opened it sounds like a cat is being pulled from its tale which is far from being romantic.

With all the experiences, Valentines Day is overated and should not be celebrated on one day of the year, it should be everyday where you search far and wide for the most romantic nd thoughtful experiences which is not found on shelves of supermarket stores.

Designer PR

"What are you studying?" a voice came from the opposite end from where i was sitting. "Public Relations ", assuming he knew what it was all about. Not long after, somehow after my response, he saw it as an invitation to strike up a conversation. "Is it like Marketing," he asked. "No Public Relations focuses on the internal and external publics of the company, it's all got to do with managing perceptions." "I dont think i quite follow you," he said confusingly.

"Lets take Designer PR for example this means that, with all the social networds availible today, PR can be put on a level even higher than Marketing. Like i said earlier; it's all about perceptions, good communication strategies and building strong relationships in relations to what companies stand for and incorporate that into the public."

Is Polygamy a feminist issue?

Polygamy is a feminist issue, it is a matter of justice for women as they are objects of polygamy. Women fought for years to have the same rights as men. Through polygamy, we are not honouring our female activists who gave their lives for the rights that we have today. No women wants to be shared along many other women, by doing this, how is marriage portrayed as a sacred union.
